It’s time for a tasting trip up the coast, as we feast on the northwest’s amazing oysters–from our neighbors in Netarts and Yaquina Bay, up to Washington’s Pickering Passage and Hammersley Bay, we’ll have a range of varieties to taste and compare on the half shell. Growers and shuckers will be on hand to talk about how these delicious bivalves are harvested and the remarkable differences in flavor that you’ll find from place to place. We’ll be shucking around the fountain, grilling a few of the larger varieties, warming up with oyster chowder and pouring muscadet and bubbly–join us for this wintry feast!

Marché is excited to welcome our dear neighbor and friend, Stephen Hagen, for a very special event. Proprietor and winemaker of Antiquum Farm in Junction City, Stephen’s approach to the vineyard is fascinating  and unique– it’s a throwback to the days before modern winemaking, a time with no synthetic fertilizers or tractors. The entire vineyard is grazing-based: a team of draft horses is used to plow, flocks of trained sheep keep back the weeds, geese and chickens are both pest control and providers of natural fertilizers, and the benefits to the vineyard and its wholly natural program are evident in the rich, lush, otherworldly fruit growing there. Marché chef Rocky Maselli has designed a very special menu to pair with these wines at what promises to be a remarkable, intimate evening of wine, food and discussion with one of the wine world’s true visionaries.Join us, won’t you?

Another Oregon truffle season is upon us, and with it the opportunity to ponder what wine to pair with these earthy delights. Aged Champagne makes a great pairing partner, as does nebbiolo in the form of Barolo and Barbaresco, but we’re in Oregon. While we enjoy imports as much as anyone, there’s no need to ship out for Alba and Perigord truffles and European wine when we have fabulous Oregon pinot noir and homegrown Oregon truffles.
